Abarth Rally Cup: Andrea Nucita won the hard-fought 2019 edition
Abarth rally Cup in race up to the last corner. Only at the last stage of the last rally of this season, the Hungary Rally, the Italian Andrea Nucita, with Bernardo Di Caro on the Abarth 124 rally of Bernini Rally team, was sure of his success in the Abarth rally Cup 2019. Until the very end, his title - and final prize of 30'000 euro - was challenged by the Polish Dariusz Polonski with Lukasz Sitek, on the Rallyetechnology Team's Abarth 124 Rally.
The Hungary rally revealed itself as particularly difficult and selective, thanks to the mud that covered the tarmac of many timed tracks. In this situation the Abarth 124 Rally was confirmed queen of the R-GT category, thanks to the success of the Czech pilot Martin Rada, with Jugas Jaroslav, with the Agrotec Czech Team Abarth, and Nucita's second place. Polonski had to stop at the end of the first leg, but he still had the satisfaction of a second place in the championship.
Andrea Nucita (Bernini Rally): "mission complete, but it's not been easy. In today's race we had to overcome many muddy roads, but the goal was to finish the race and win the Abarth Rally Cup. To win with an Abarth has a great meaning to me".
Dariusz Polonski (Rallyetechnology): "unfortunately the setback did not allow us to fight until the end, but I'm happy for our season, in which I have learned to drive such an exceptional car".
Nucita - from Sicily, just turned 30 - has a sports' career in which the Abarth brand has been a constant. Indeed, he began to shine in 2010 thanks to the great results in the Abarth 500 R3T Trophy, in which he got a second place, with the possibility of participating in the Monza rally driving an official Abarth Grande Punto S2000. From 2017 he has been one of the best interprets of the Abarth 124 Rally, he achieved brilliant results and highly-valued performances, like the 4th best time in the Montecarlo Rally 2018, achieved between the official WRC Plus cars' pilots. This year's title comes from 4 successes, a 3rd and a 4th place in the 6 races of which the single-branded championship was composed in the ERC Championship.
