Performance, craftsmanship and technical upgrade have always made the Abarth brand stand out. The partnership with the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team in the FIM MotoGP World Championship is founded on these values, and the season promises to be a thrilling one thanks to the successes on the track and the launch of the new Abarth 124 spider.

 

Abarth lands in Argentina for the "Gran Premio Motul" in Termas de Rio Hondo, together with Movistar Yamaha Moto GP, already leading the championship in the team standings. The partnership between the brand and Yamaha is founded on the shared values of sportsmanship and the desire to excel: it is no accident that this year also features the Scorpion logo on the front fairing of the two YZR-M1 2016-as a synonym for racing and the symbol for a wealth of victories and passions.

 

The high-performance attitude typical of Abarth was confirmed at the recent Geneva International Motor Show, where the new Abarth 124 spider enjoyed its world début. It is a vehicle designed for thrills and performance and has all the qualities needed to satisfy even the most hard-to-please drivers. Among its technical features, one that stands out is the standard mechanical self-locking differential, to ensure drive and traction in even the most critical situations and provide peerless dynamic handling. Additionally, fine mechanics and special materials have lowered the weight to just 1,060 kg, for a weight-to-power ratio of 6.2 kg/HP.

 

The first 2,500 units of the exclusive, limited edition model made by Officine Abarth can be ordered at a price of 40,000 Euro across Europe. The car will be available in dealerships starting from September. The new Abarth 124 spider can also be purchased with the FCA Bank solution by paying 300-Euro monthly instalments.

 

As Official Sponsor and Official Car Supplier of the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team, the Abarth brand created, together with Yamaha, a vehicle to celebrate their partnership. It is the Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing, a special series designed in the name of the craftsmanship and technical upgrade that characterise the Scorpion. An unmistakeable sound, a more powerful engine, and a sporty trim are just some of the technical features of this special series, which stands out for its stylish details-such as the red brake callipers and the Yamaha Factory Racing badge. Abarth and Yamaha thus prove themselves always at home, whether it is a routine outing or out on any of the racing tracks around the world.

 

Finally, since 1 March, the passion that reigns on the racetrack and on board each Abarth car can be found in "The Scorpionship", the brand's only official community dedicated to car owners, collectors, Abarth club members, and fans.
