- Fans, club members and journalists alike will be taking part the tour from all countries en route. Everyone is invited to share their experience of the trip and broaden the community even further.
- The initiative celebrates the story of the Scorpio, starring the new 695 70° Anniversario, expressing a love for challenge and an ongoing pursuit of high performance.
The “Tour of Europe in 1949 hours” is about to start. The project is an exciting European tour onboard Abarth's 695 70° Anniversario, which will embark on a multi-stage route spanning approximately 3,700 km, through the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. The feat will take place in 1949 hours – also a nod to the brand's year of birth and the number of Abarth 695 70° Anniversario units. In total, this will make up just over 80 days, much like the adventure in Jules Verne's famous novel Around the World in Eighty Days.
The "Tour of Europe in 1949 hours" will also engage the entire Abarth community, which currently has over 80 clubs and more than 110,000 fans.
“This seems to be the best way to end a year of celebrations, alongside all our clubs and fans, Abarth enthusiasts from across Europe, who we will meet on the journey,” stated Luca Napolitano, Head of EMEA, Fiat & Abarth Brands, “a journey dedicated to a passion for cars, to the pleasure of driving and to performance.”
The tour will officially depart today from the Dutch town of Lijnden, 10 km from Amsterdam, before heading to Belgium and then Germany in early March. From there, the adrenaline-fueled Abarth 695 70° Anniversario will head toward Geneva, Switzerland, before moving to Turin – the city of Abarth's first office, which still hosts the headquarters of the Scorpio and the Heritage HUB today, housing some of the most important cars produced by Abarth in its history. By late March, the "Tour of Europe in 1949 hours" will set off for the French Riviera before arriving in Spain, brushing past Barcelona and Madrid and finally ending up in the fascinating Portuguese city of Lisbon by mid-April.
