“Born to be professional”: Fiat Professional introduces its "full liner" range

Fiat Professional's "full liner" range

The pivotal year for Fiat Professional will be 2016, the one when the brand's "full liner" range will be revealed in all its glory. The brand has been continuously evolving to prepare to tackle the crucial challenges with new products, a novel, even more customer-oriented approach and the determination to open new roads in the global market.
Not by chance, this was the first brand "born to be professional". Fiat Professional, entirely dedicated to light transport, can boast over one hundred years of history and a one-of-a-kind baggage of experience in the world of commercial vehicles. Skills have been consolidated over time with unremitting enthusiasm to take on challenges and constantly develop without fearing change.

The approach is one of professionals who address other professionals, with innovative and targeted business solutions and an increasingly extensive range. Completely refreshed in just two years, the Fiat Professional line-up today has the right answers to all transport mission needs because all segments are covered. All body types, loading capacities and volumes, a complete choice of wheelbases, widths and height variants, in addition to high-efficiency engines and various fuels options (petrol, diesel, LPG and methane). What is more, the brand places assertive focus on "specialities", such as passenger transport and the world of converted vehicles.

So, with this increasingly more customer-oriented approach come new prospects for presenting the line-up dedicated to work and to making businesses grow. Fiat Professional is the only commercial vehicle brand to have a team entirely dedicated to this business area and supports customers with professional mobility solutions for work and leisure. In brief: professionals who support a community of professionals who successfully complete their missions day by day with pride.

The product that symbolises this innovation is the Fullback pick-up truck which is introducing the brand to entirely new playing field and is a major leap towards the growth of Fiat Professional as a global brand. Interestingly, pick-up trucks are one of the most important segments in the EMEA region amounting to 22% of the entire commercial vehicle mix. While the average mark in Europe is about 6% and on the rise, in Africa and the Middle East it reaches a remarkable 70%.

Fullback is the result of a partnership - based on a technical platform of absolute and tried and tested value - and is built on a body-on-frame architecture which guarantees capacity, capabilities and resistance to extreme efforts, like travelling fully loaded off-road. In short, as the name suggests, it is a player created to open the way to new prospects. In rugby and in American football, the fullback is the last man in defence, but also the first to rush towards the opponent's line. Fullbacks need to be ready to adapt to all situations: tough and reliable in defence, fast and explosive for the counter-attack. Perfectly in tune with best competition in terms of configuration, dimensions and engines, the Fullback pick-up truck is the new Fiat Professional "Work Hero".

By its side is Talento, the model that with its generous loading capacity is the ideal work mate for professionals in city streets and on major roads alike. Its features include outstanding versatility and the ability to adapt to the most diverse needs of customers. Its highly symbolic name evokes the innate qualities of the vehicle and the concept of value by making reference to the name of an ancient coin as in the best Fiat Professional tradition. The result is a functional vehicle that enhances the value of work, time and money of professionals by focusing on their real needs. Talento is link between Doblò Cargo and Ducato and is allowing Fiat Professional to cover new load volumes and lengths and compete in the 2P segment with an ideal-sized wheelbase.

Also new in the line-up is the new Fiorino, the evolution of the model that invented the small van segment. With refreshed a design, inside and out, the new Fiat Professional vehicle is perfect for use in cities, agile in traffic and easy to park. Despite this, it has a remarkable loading capacity of up to 2.8 m3 and can carry up to 660 kg of payload. Furthermore, the new Fiorino is at the top of its class in terms of performance, low running costs, comfort and functionality.

Ducato and Doblò Cargo complete the Fiat Professional team. The first is the best-seller of the brand, which over 35 years and six generations has been chosen by over 2.9 million customers. Without considering that more than 600,000 families travel in a Fiat Ducato base motorhome, the Ducato base being the undisputed leader in this sector and a benchmark in the category: over 75% of motorhomes in circulation today have a Ducato base. To keep on playing a leading role in the segment, in 2014 the model was restyled to accommodate the new requirements of customers, offering them more technology, more efficiency and more value. Today, it has become the talk of the town once again for its new range of Euro6 engines implementing LPEGR and SCR technology according to the vehicle mission.

Last but not least, Doblò Cargo offers the biggest range of its segment, spanning from vans to special vehicles and conversions for specific uses. The heir to a winning model - it has been sold to over 1 million 675 thousand customers from 2000 to date - the vehicle aims at consolidating its position in this market segment, which makes up approximately 25% of the European total light commercial vehicles. Its particularities include top-in-class loading capacity (up to 5.4 m³) and payload (up to 1 tonne), in addition to the adoption of exclusive Bi-link suspensions and a complete range of Euro6 engines (turbo diesel, petrol and petrol/methane) which stand out for their performance and fuel-efficiency.

All are winning models, capable of responding to all professional needs, that cover 97% of the market: these are the sound foundations on which the renovation of the brand is based. Together with the new products, Fiat Professional is also evolving by expanding the commercial sales force and the dealership network, boosting service quality and accessing new markets with made-to-measure solutions. This means having the right models available, and above all having them available in the right segments - those which represents the largest slice of the sales mix. All this will allow Fiat Professional to balance the European market share with that of Italy and double sales in Africa and the Middle East, where the brand is expanding its network also by exploiting the synergy with Chrysler.

For the new line-up, Fiat Professional has created a new advertising project that will feature the Fullback together with the other models always in action. A close, winning team ready to take on any challenge. But that's not all. Fullback is the "product hero" of the official fleet of Motorcross World Championship (MXGP), of which Fiat Professional is Official Sponsor and Title Sponsor in three of main races of the championship, in the UK, Belgium and Italy. This sponsorship project is very important and perfect for the pick-up truck to express its sporty temperament and its off-road vocation.

Talento and Fullback Converted with Specific Equipment

Four Talento and three Fullback models converted with specific equipment will be introduced at the presentation of the new range to the international press. These are only a few significant examples of the remarkable flexibility of the Fiat Professional models, which are ideal for passenger transport, from shuttles to assisted mobility, and versatile for professional use: mobile workshops, flatbeds, insulated vans or with refrigerated cell, camper vans for leisure and vehicles for Public Authorities to name a few. In brief, there is no professional activity or mobility need that cannot be satisfied by a Fiat Professional vehicle conversion, as demonstrated by the collaboration with the major European outfitters.
More in detail, the first Talento (long wheelbase, low roof) showcases an example of conversion for use by disabled passengers. The vehicle on show was converted by Olmedo and is equipped with electro-hydraulic rear lift and modular rear floor, with quick-release seats to allow outstanding configuration flexibility: the vehicle can carry either nine passengers or eight passengers and two wheelchairs.
The second Talento (long wheelbase, low roof) was outfitted for exclusive shuttle services with seven leather seats, swivelling second row, floor with rails and ABS lining. This conversion was made in partnership with Focaccia.
The third Talento (short wheelbase, low roof) was converted by Plastoblock into an A.T.P. classified insulated vehicle, capable of maintaining constant temperatures of even 0°C. In particular, a refrigerated cell suitable for transporting pharmaceuticals or food may be obtained by applying a refrigerating unit.
The Talento line-up is completed by a fourth proposal (short wheelbase, low roof) converted by Storevan into a mobile workshop made of automotive galvannealled steel and featuring a quick and flexible modular fixing system.
The spotlight will also be on the Fullback, the new Fiat Professional model which is perfect for multiple conversions. The first example, based on an Extended Cab model, was made by Cold Car and features a eutectic solution low-temperature refrigerated body which is ideal for daily deliveries of frozen food products. The second pick-up truck was converted into a mobile workshop by NCT and features modular and reconfigurable aluminium section bars for transporting equipment and spare parts for on-site maintenance services. Finally, in collaboration with OMARS, a Fullback (Double Cab) was converted for roadside rescue services by fitting a towing forklift.
