For the fourth time in a row, the Abarth 595 has been voted "Best Car" in the imported "Mini Car" category by the readers of "Auto Motor und Sport" magazine. An exceptional result that saw the 595 collect 30.6% of all votes. In the overall rankings, with 20 contenders in play, the Abarth 595 scored another extraordinary result, finishing second with 18.3% of all votes.

“We are very proud that the Abarth 595 has won this important award for the fourth year running. It confirms that our little super car is an undisputed symbol of quintessentially Italian creativity, sportiness and attention to detail - which is always highly appreciated by the readers of German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport”, said Luca Napolitano, Head of Fiat and Abarth brands EMEA.

“This prestigious win also reasserts the increasing appeal of the brand with the scorpion badge in Germany - our second-largest export market and one that significantly contributed to our sales results in 2018 - a record-breaking year for us with nearly 23,500 cars sold in Europe, representing a growth of 36.5%. These extraordinary results make us optimistic for 2019, the year that sees the brand celebrating its 70th anniversary.”

To commemorate this important milestone, the 2019 Abarth range will sport a celebratory “70th Anniversary” badge which will make each car even more unique and recognisable. Not only that, but each version of the new 595 70th Anniversary range will be packed with special new content.

The Abarth 595 Turismo features unique 17’’ alloy wheels and black brake calipers, dual chromed steel exhaust tailpipes and satin chrome mirror covers. Powered by a 1.4 Turbo T-Jet engine that delivers 165 hp and with Abarth rear shocks by Koni, it means that you don’t have to choose between performance and style when you can have both in one exciting package.

The 2019 Abarth 595 Competizione pushes performance to the limit - 180 hp of pure adrenaline pumping out from its 1.4 Turbo T-Jet engine that develops torque of 250 Nm at 3,000 rpm via its Garrett GT 1446 turbo. Abarth front and rear shock absorbers by Koni, dual mode Record Monza exhaust system with 4 tailpipes, fixed 4-piston front calipers by Brembo, Corsa 17” diamond cut alloy wheels and Abarth side stripe in Anthracite Grey - it’s an Abarth with no compromises.

The Abarth 595 recently received another award, this time in Switzerland, where it took first place in the “Mini Car” category of the competition organised by "Auto Illustrierte", the country’s most important automotive magazine, which, together with international publications from 12 other countries, took part in the 43th edition of the "Best Car" awards where readers voted for their favourite vehicles from the 385 in contention.

About the Abarth brand: Transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary to offer the best products in the small sports car segment. This is the mission of Abarth - the brand with the Scorpion badge - which has always been the byword for performance and iconic Italian style.

It was in 1949 that Carlo Abarth, after a career racing motorcycles and cars, founded Abarth & C with Guido Scagliarini. The first vehicle produced was the 204 A Roadster, based on the Fiat 1100. It immediately won the 1100 Sport Championship as well as Formula 2. Alongside racing, the company started to produce tuning kits that improved performance, power and speed of standard vehicles.

Abarth vehicles were renowned for their high performance and power, but first and foremost for being small and agile just like the Scorpion. Carlo Abarth’s performance modified cars achieved success in every competition and with him at the wheel, set many records. In the 1950s and throughout the 60s, the Abarth brand became synonymous with sport, tuning and performance, and changed the sports car world.

Today, the Abarth brand still maintains its unique DNA, and is renowned for performance, great driving pleasure and sporty appeal. The story of the Scorpion continues, facing new challenges, creating unique vehicles and giving great emotion to whoever has the honour of driving these vehicles.
