Fiat today releases its first docufilm – ‘One-Shot’. The short film takes the viewer on a six month journey to discover how the three New 500 ‘One-Offs’ were created together with three iconic Italian brands, ahead of their debut in March.

“You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.” These words, from Olivier François – President, Fiat Brand Global and FCA Chief Marketing Officer – open the film, explaining how the debut of the New 500 should be considered as a milestone in the brand’s history.

The documentary is dedicated to the three masterpieces from Armani, Bvlgari and Kartell. The film shows the very first encounters between Fiat and the design powerhouses in Turin, all the way to the launch of the three exclusive cars in Milan earlier this year.

The short film presents a relentless succession of meetings and processes that highlight the teamwork and affinity between designers from different fields collaborating towards one project to create a unique interpretation of the New 500 alongside the very best of ‘Made in Italy’.

The result of this collaboration is the three One-Offs which embody the style, creativity and craftsmanship characteristics of Italian design combined with an awareness of environmental requirements. Sustainability needs to be combined with excellence in know-how, in creativity and in innovation.

Guiding the viewer on this journey, Olivier François, leader of the One-Off project, narrates the film, explaining how the three unique pieces were created.

Beginning in Turin, the home of the Fiat brand, the film takes the viewer to Rome, showcasing its sunsets, colours and lines that symbolise Bvlgari all over the world. The film’s tour ends in Milan – the world capital of fashion and design and home to Armani and Kartell – and becomes the setting for the unveil of the New 500 upon the cancellation of the Geneva International Motor Show.
‘One-Shot’ can be viewed on Fiat’s social media channels, on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. The evocative 15-minute short was created and produced by VICE Italy.

The evocative docufilm opens the doors of the Centro Stile in Turin to cameras for an exclusive peak inside the colour and material department led by Rossella Guasco. A combination of sophisticated research centre and elegant atelier, the footage documents the team’s obsessive attention to detail, creativity and captures the emotions of the whole team as they experience creating three unique designs.

The journey continues in an interview with Klaus Busse, Head of Design, explaining what lies beneath the creative process of style and forms, and the role of the 500 in the history of industrial design. It was the Centro Stile that took the legend of the 1950’s, the fabled ‘Cinquino’, and reinvented it in 2007, producing a unique response to the requirements of international urban mobility.

At the Milan launch of the One-Offs in March, it was announced that the Fiat 500 has been confirmed as an ‘Italian Icon and Honorary Member’ of the Altagamma Foundation, bringing together the best of Italy’s companies to promote the epitome of the country’s excellence around the world.
