Abarth Virtual Configurator at Smau

After winning the national Smau Roadshow Innovation Award in Turin, Abarth received the international "Smau 2016 - Milan Innovation Award" at the Smau International event held in Milan from October 25 to 27. The brand with the scorpion badge was here and offered an immersive, real-time, virtual reality customisation experience on the new Abarth 124 spider to visitors. Paolo Gagliardo, Head of Operations Abarth, received the prestigious award.

Abarth has always stood out for constant technical upgrades as confirmed by the major innovations introduced in 2016, like the highly admired new Abarth 124 spider and the refreshed Abarth 595 range. Progress involves all new technologies and not only cars: this time, the brand will be present at Smau with a focus on virtual reality. Visitors to the important trade show dedicated to innovation will be invited to try out the special equipment and don a 3D virtual reality helmet to travel to the Abarth workshop and enjoy the experience of getting into the new Abarth 124 spider.

They will be able to walk around the car and fully interact with it: open the doors, sit inside the passenger compartment, accelerate to hear the satisfying sound of the 1.4 turbo MultiAir 170 HP engine with Record Monza exhaust and, more importantly, configure the car as they wish. An actual example of the car that aims at attracting a new generation of fans with its performance and technical DNA will be present to reassert the real-life authenticity of the experience. The new Abarth 124 spider combines the authentic roadster experience packed with thrills, technology, safety with a touch of unmistakable Italian design.

The forward-thinking vision aimed at expanding the areas of use of virtual reality was expressed by Paolo Gagliardo, Head of Operations Abarth, who will be attending the Smau trade show in Milan precisely to illustrate the company's experience and future innovation-related projects: "Virtual reality has the potential to become a commercial tool with major practical applications: in the future, we will be able to incubate and improve the processes applicable to the first sales step, considerably streamlining communications between the headquarters, markets, dealers and customers".

"The presence of Abarth at Smau is the opportunity to show companies how innovation can be an integral, fundamental part of their business strategy", said Pierantonio Macola, President of Smau. Not by chance, the brand with the scorpion badge will also star in the Smau Live Shows. These 50-minute events will be held on the Main Stage during the three days of Smau to share Italian project of innovation excellence.
