  • Synergy for the development of new projects and support to the best Italian and international start-ups in the sector
  • Exclusive services and benefits also thanks to the collaboration with Techstars’ acceleration plan

Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, an Intesa Sanpaolo Group company dedicated to the world of innovation, has launched the new Smart Mobility Corporate Club with Cisco, FCA and Iren.

The initiative stems from the intention of Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center to create an innovation ecosystem dedicated to smart mobility, providing exclusive services to interested companies, working in synergy for the development of new projects and supporting the best Italian and international start-ups in the sector.

Smart Mobility Corporate Club could only be launched in Turin, the Italian car capital and city dedicated to research and innovation, where last year - thanks to the strategic cooperation between Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, Compagnia di San Paolo and CRT Foundation - Techstars, an American startup accelerator among the most important in the world, chose to establish its European base for its smart mobility initiatives.

Through the Smart Mobility Corporate Club, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center will provide Cisco, FCA and Iren with a series of exclusive services and benefits, such as: ad hoc research on global innovation trends, particularly in the technology media & telecommunications, automotive and energy sectors; up-todate and tailor-made information on state-of-the-art technologies, including through access to international partners' channels; privileged contacts with the finalist start-ups of selection and acceleration plans such as the one launched by Techstars; involvement as mentor or partner of the most promising start-ups; participation in international events in which to meet startups and possible technology partners, such as tech-tours in Israel or in the Greater Bay Area between Guangdong and Hong Kong.

As part of the Smart Mobility Corporate Club, Intesa Sanpaolo IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, which assists the leading Italian industrial companies and their supply chains for the Group, will also share with Cisco, FCA e Iren its experience with dedicated teams and services in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center.

"The Smart Mobility Corporate Club wishes to encourage and aid dialogue between companies operating at the highest levels in new technologies, in the automotive and energy sectors so that they can pool their respective knowledge, benchmark themselves against the most promising startups and work together for the development of future mobility, starting from Turin - says Guido de Vecchi, General Manager of Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center - Thanks also to the synergy with and support of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, the Innovation Center acts as an enabler of this process, offering cross-functional skills, international relations and the support of a global network".

“Joining the Smart Mobility Corporate Club is an excellent opportunity for Cisco, in line with our open innovation model that is based on co-innovation with customers and joint experimentation. The Smart Mobility theme is particularly relevant, since it has an important impact in terms of digital services for citizens and defines the way in which the cities of the future will develop their transport systems in a sustainable manner; moreover, promoting intelligent mobility means digitising critical infrastructure for the country and this is in line with the mission of the Digitaliani programme, which we launched four years ago to accelerate Italy's digitisation. We are therefore excited to take part in this project and coinnovate together with the other companies of the Club" said Enrico Mercadante, Cisco's Head of Innovation South Europe.

“At Fiat Chrysler Automobiles - explained Roberto Di Stefano, Head of eMobility of FCA Region EMEA - innovation is an integral part of our activities and the availability of information deriving from joining the Smart Mobility Corporate Club will allow us to rapidly develop new projects in collaboration with the best young talent in Europe who will be able to implement new approaches in the company capable of developing a true mobility ecosystem. Furthermore, working together with leading companies in the sector will allow us to improve system design and enable us to carry out ambitious innovative projects with the aim of improving the quality of life of our customers and the environment of our cities”.

“Participation in the Smart Mobility Corporate Club - declared Enrico Pochettino, Director of Internationalization and Innovation, Iren S.p.A. - allows us to enhance the tools we have adopted to bring innovation within the IREN Group. In particular, we can accelerate the scouting of innovative mobility solutions, the sector in which we are investing with Iren-Go solutions, and propose ourselves to international start-ups as a reference partner also by leveraging the Iren-Up corporate venture capital programme".
